With classes 6 days a week and multiple streams of classes (beginners to pre-professional) Backstage easily cater for a variety of ages and abilities with superb timetabling, many exciting and valuable opportunities, and fun in-house activities.

With clear and well thought out policies and procedures, the environment is safe, organised and structured. BDA is dedicated to providing an environment that focuses on the children and young adults developing life skills including independence, confidence, resilience and organisation.

ABOUT US
It all started with a Disney Princess
After spending 2006 performing at Tokyo Disneyland as Sleeping Beauty, Jess Solomon was passionate and determined to develop a local dance studio that has the best of both worlds with the technical standard, choreography, and teaching quality of an inner-city studio, as well as the friendly community vibe of a suburban studio.
Over the years, Backstage has developed into one of the leading studios in Melbourne, expanding to all styles of dance and performing arts, as well as acrobatics, and cheerleading.
Backstage is well known for its professional training and amazing opportunities. The team at BDA continue to evolve with innovative ideas year after year.

Now located in state of the art 'theatre themed' facilities in Narre Warren, Backstage Dance Academy is a second home to hundreds of students and a place where many memories are made.

FAQS
CAN WE ATTENDÂ A TRIAL FIRST?
Our classes are high in demand and fill quickly. If there are vacant positions in a class, we would love for you to bring your child for a trial.
Trials are $15 per class and there is no committment to join.
CAN I WATCH THE CLASS?
Just like at Kinder or School, children learn best when they're in an environment that fosters learning without distraction.
There is a small viewing window in each studio, where parents can catch a glimpse of the class.
HOW LONG DO CLASSES GO FOR?
Most classes are 40 to 50 minutes in duration.
IS THERE A UNIFORM?
Yes. We found our students learn best when they're in their uniform and feeling part of our community.
Uniform is more strict for certain classes such as Ballet.
School Aged students receive a free uniform t-shirt upon enrolment.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE CLASS TIMES?
If you haven't found class times above in our 2022 Class info section, please contact us for a copy and we can get one to you ASAP.
DO YOU OFFER MAKE UP CLASSES?
Yes, we do. Students may attend one make up class per term.
There are no refunds or credits for missed classes as enrolment is for your child's position in the class, not their participation.

IS THERE A CONCERT?
We encourage all students to participate in the Annual Showcase which is our concert. It's a wonderful experience for the students and an entertaining show for parents, family and guests.
The concert is an optional choice.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO DO COMPETITIONS?
No. Most of our students attend classes for recreation and to work up through our levels at their own pace.
For those who are driven to undertake dance in an elite and competitive setting, we offer our Industry/Pre-professional setting.
CAN MY CHILD DO EXAMINATIONS?
We offer Ballet exams, Acrobatics exams and Singing exams.
Additional fees are incurred to pursue these opportunities.
Students may need to progress from beginner level to then be invited to undertake examination preparation.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We hope to see students enrol for the full calendar year to achieve the most out of their classes.
The minimum enrolment period is a term.
Payment is due in advance for the term and cannot be refunded or credited.
Registration fees are non-refundable.
IS THE STUDIO COVID-SAFE?
At BDA, we do everything we can to provide a Covid-safe environment.
We have strict covid policies to ensure this, and follow Government regulations.
